The Zoological Society of London has filmed the long-eared jerboa for the first time in the wild. The jerboa is kind of a big deal for two reasons – it’s an endangered species and it’s also the cutest fucking animal I’ve ever seen.

It’s like a furby.

These little guys are like mouse-sized kangaroos with ears bigger than their heads and they live in the deserts of Mongolia and China. While too small to make a good meal, they would make a perfect pet and a great conversation starter: “What the fuck is that thing?”

How can you not think the jerboa is amazing?

I haven’t done any research to find out whether or not they bite, but if I ever go to China or Mongolia, you better believe I’m gonna make a detour through the desert and find one to smuggle back with me. I still have a spare hampster cage somewhere – I think Richard Gere borrowed it for the gerbil that was removed from his asshole.
