A7X drummer dies
As you may have heard, James “The Rev” Sullivan, was found dead in his California home on Monday afternoon. Sullivan was the drummer for the band Avenged Sevenfold, or A7X.
After Sullivan’s autopsy results were inconclusive, the Orange County coroner’s office ordered toxicology, microscopic and laboratory tests to determine the exactly how the 28-year-old rocker died. News websites are reporting that he died of natural causes.
Ummm… no.
I’ll take three completely random stabs at the REAL cause of death: drugs, drugs, drugs.

Sullivan in 2006, rocking the Pete Wentz makeup collection.
It’s not like The Rev choked on a Vitamin Water and had a heart attack while doing cardio with his personal trainer. In a 2006 interview with Revolver magazine, his band spoke lightheartedly about their excessive drinking and drug use. Sullivan himself even bragged about doing piles of coke — little white mountains of it! And now he’s dead. Surprised?
I saw a documentary in 2007 called All Excess — it was 90 minutes of video footage of Avenged Sevenfold drinking to obliteration and then bragging about how hard they party. WOW, COOL. At some point during the film, I recall thinking, “I hope all these fuckers die.”
Thousands of emo kids are carving The Rev’s name in their forearms with sharpened paperclips right now. I’ve even heard people make absurd statements like, “Avenged Sevenfold will never be the same after The Rev’s death. Music will never be the same!”
I’m pretty sure that music doesn’t give a fuck that James Sullivan died.
With the invention of drum machines, human drummers are becoming obsolete. Their only real purpose is to keep a steady timing so the rest of the band doesn’t fuck up. Otherwise, I can watch a fuckin’ 2-year-old bang on hollow surfaces with a pair of sticks.

All A7X ever did for their fans was take a massive, bleeding shit on their eardrums. What ever happened to CLASSIC musicians deaths? Like John Lennon getting shot? Damn emo kids with their drugs and razors and dead emotions and whatnot.

Avenged Sevenfold is one of my favorite bands! It’s horrible to say that after watching something on their life hoping that they die…people deal with demons everyday and I’m not trying to preach! It’s not no one’s fault but the dumb ass kids carving someone’s name in their arm but theirs!

He was a really talented drummer. One of the best. A shame he had to be an idiot, too.

Rachel, you’re an idiot. that band was crap, the guys are douchers and when you abuse drugs chances are you’re gonna die. that fucker got what he deserved. and fuck their fans, too. dumb kids dont know what good music is these days. pretty sure its non existent. this guy dying was a favor to the music industry. be happy!

I liked them until they released their City of Evil album. “All Excess” fueled my hate for them.

Wow, I\’m an idiot? Just for the music I like you label me an idiot? Everyone has their own opinion on what good music is to them and I happen to like rock/heavy metal and I happen to like Avenged Sevenfold! That does not make me an idiot! I would never judge nor call someone out of their name just because I do not like their opinion. People know when they use drugs their chances are they could die but you should never wish death on someone! I know people who have dealt with drug habits and have cleaned up! Everyone has their problems and just because they have problems that other people don\’t like DOES NOT MEAN THEY SHOULD DIE! Everyone deserves a chance to live and everyone has struggles! Shame on anyone who says that anyone\’s death was a favor, that\’s just horrible! Every human life is special!!!! So you can label me an idiot all you want because I\’m very well educated and KNOW otherwise!

Just last night i was telling some fellow bar patrons how much this band sucks. If there was a god i would thank her.

Dustin, you nailed it. They had a mediocre album in Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, followed by Waking the Fallen, which is still one of my favorite albums to the day, but all albums after and including City of Evil were shit. Maybe if they maintained the sound of Waking the Fallen, then more people would care. Or genuinely care other than the “fans” they have now

Why is one of the tags “Tragedy”? This is no tragedy.
Comment by Greg — December 30, 2009 @ 11:49 pm
Rach, I didn’t mean I hope they died because of their drinking and drug habits. It was the fact that they bragged about it and acted like a handful of Jersey Shore guidos with eyeliner.

‘Maxscene’ – Don’t call someone an idiot over their taste of music lol. I always liked Avenged Sevenfold and I don’t carve hearts on my wrist, haha. Their songs are good and while I do believe that they are dumb for doing what they do, they still have good music that I wouldn’t mind listening to for a whole day.
Rachel – I agree with you 100%.
Anyways, like always, I agree with you also, Dustin!
City of Evil was definitely not their best work.

I agree with you Dustin about them bragging about it! And this site of yours is pretty funny!

PS – I don’t think you’re an idiot.

Would also like to add Dustin, I quoted “Thousands of emo kids are carving The Rev’s name in their forearms with sharpened paperclips right now. I’ve even heard people make absurd statements like, “Avenged Sevenfold will never be the same after The Rev’s death. Music will never be the same!”
) and got a reply: “TAKE IT BACK
I’m pretty sure that music doesn’t give a fuck that James Sullivan died.” (to your credit ofcourse
nothing will ever be the same without his insight.”

Avenged Sevenfold is a great band. The Rev was a great drummer. It’s a damn shame he had to screw up a once in a lifetime chance that some people die for. But at no point should anyone wish death on somebody. That’s horrible. And for your information. Music does give a fuck that James Sullivan died because they revolutionized Metalcore music. Fuck the haters. If you don’t like metal, Fuck you! Go listen to your stupid ass pussy music, and leave the rockers the hell out of it.

Dude, have some respect for the dead. Is there any reason to talk shit about someone who has passed away? I hope you hear someone talking about your mother that way.
