TEXAS — A San Angelo man is facing marijuana possession charges after sending a weed-related text message to an old friend. Little did he know, the old friend is a cop now.

Amanda Williams is an officer with the Early Police Department. Well, kind of. Actually, she’s a reserve officer, which is typically a part-time volunteer cop that constantly struggles to gain the respect of the full-time officers on the force.

If a normal full-time police officer was a thick slice of applewood smoked bacon, a reserve officer would be a slice of microwaved bacon from Subway — not as good.

Williams must have been under some pressure lately to prove to the Early Police Department that she’s worthy of a badge because when an old friend sent her a random text asking if she smokes weed, she saw that as an opportunity to arrest someone.

“So do you smoke weed,” the message to Williams read.

She replied and agreed to meet her old “friend” in a park for a spliff. Instead, she arranged for police from two different departments show up and detain the man.

Thousands — possibly tens of thousands — of taxpayer dollars will be spent prosecuting this suspect, not to mention the vast police resources that were wasted on a police sting operation that yielded nothing more than a misdemeanor possession charge. Somewhere nearby, a woman was raped because all the police were at the park busting a pothead.

Simply because marijuana is illegal, countless ignorant assholes have the mindset that anyone who smokes it is a criminal and deserves to be punished. The truth is, I’m the Fun Police, and people that DON’T smoke weed are the real criminals — criminally lame.

I’d like to congratulate Amanda Williams for upholding Texas’s asinine drug laws and snitching out an ex-friend over a friendly text message. Maybe now all the guys at the station will stop talking about her tits and start treating her like a real police officer.
