Cell phone explodes

Apple’s iPhone was the first smartphone to do a lot of things, but the Motorola Droid 2 is the first smartphone ever reported to explode next to a person’s ear and injure them.

TEXAS — Aron Embry recently got a fancy new smartphone to compensate for the missing “A” in his first name. He didn’t want to be a follower and get an iPhone like everyone else, so he got a Motorola Droid 2. He couldn’t wait to use the free wi-fi at Starbucks, and hoped that someone would notice his new phone and ask several questions about it.

Barely able to contain his joy, Embry walked out to his car and tried to make a quick phone call. Just then, he heard a loud pop and noticed that his phone’s screen was shattered. He didn’t feel any pain initially, but suffered a laceration on his ear that required stitches.

Embry doesn’t have health insurance, so he’s hoping to get some money from Motorola. A spokesperson for the company said they are investigating the matter.

Curiously, a local phone repair technician doubts Embry’s story. He claims the damage to Embry’s phone looked “user-caused,” not like a manufacturing defect. So did the phone really explode, or did Embry construct a masterful plan to extort money from Motorola?

It’s possible that Embry dropped his phone on the concrete and shattered the screen, like so many of us have done. But rather than getting scolded by his wife (yeah, he’s married) for being a clumsy retard, he self-mutilated his ear a little bit and became a victim.

Furthermore, Embry didn’t suffer any inner ear damage or hearing loss from the incident.

If Embry is indeed telling the truth, and his phone really did explode, then he should consider himself lucky that it didn’t blow his balls off in his pocket.
