Chill out, son

ARIZONA — Two parents were sentenced to lifetime probation this week for abusing their infant son.
The father, 24-year-old Chance Kracke, was also sentenced to ten years in prison for stuffing his baby in a freezer because “the floor was too dirty” to crawl on. The baby survived, but suffered minor injuries.
The injuries, a cut on the lip and a lump on the forehead, prompted the baby’s grandmother to call the police. When they responded to the incident, they found broken glass on the floor, cockroaches everywhere, and alcohol within reach of children. There was also a strong odor of feces and urine.

Chance Kracke admitted to putting his son on the bottom shelf of the freezer and closing the door. It didn’t seem like a bad idea because he had been smoking meth with his wife for 90 days in a row.
Leanne Kracke sold her husband out and said that he would’ve abused her too if she told the police what happened. She pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse, but was spared prison.
Ten years in prison combined with lifetime probation is a tough sentence for putting a baby in a harmless freezer for a few minutes. I always thought that newborn babies were put into freezers right away at the hospital, so they would stay fresh long enough to survive outside the womb.
