TENNESSEE — Security guard James Dale Smith was busted earlier this week when he tried to pull over a speeding car that was being driven by an undercover cop.

The 58-year-old authoritarian was only a security guard, but when he got behind the wheel of the company’s white Crown Victoria and flipped on the white strobe lights, he felt invincible.

The illusion of power corrupted him though, and he began to overstep his duties as a security guard. He dressed like a cop and carried a loaded pistol and handcuffs with him, and had a mean flattop.

The police don’t know how many other drivers Smith has tried to pull over in the past, but they are asking any victims to come forward. Unfortunately for Smith, he targeted the wrong speeder this week.

According to a police spokesman, Smith targeted an undercover police vehicle and decided to pull it over. The undercover officer radioed for backup and kept driving with Smith in pursuit. Here’s the scary part: When the cop wouldn’t pull over, Smith pulled alongside him and tried to nudge him off the road.

When Smith got a look at the cop, he recognized him, and immediately backed off and pulled into a gas station. By this time, the tables had turned and the cop was following Smith with his flashers on.

At first, Smith denied that he even tried to pull the officer over, but he later confessed to investigators that he thought the vehicle was driving too fast. He was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer and impersonating a public officer or employee.
