Toddler shoots his mother — maybe

FLORIDA — A 2 1/2-year-old boy is the main suspect in the shooting death of his mother, and the only witness is the toddler’s father, who was also in the apartment when it happened.

The weapon was a semi-automatic Glock pistol belonging to the toddler’s father, who had a permit to carry it. According to him, the child gained access to the gun and accidentally shot his mom, 33-year-old Julia Bennett. The father then called 911 immediately and reported what happened.

Police officers were already in the area searching for an unrelated missing child when they heard the gun shot. They determined which apartment it came from and kicked the door down within minutes.

Detectives interviewed the toddler, but were unsuccessful at breaking the baby language barrier.

The father, on the other hand, he swears that his kid did it. If he’s telling the truth, the woman’s death will be ruled accidental because a 2 1/2-year-old can’t be charged for murder. Is that fair though? I don’t think it is because the babies of today are a lot smarter than they used to be.

I credit the Baby Einstein videos for making kids more intelligent, but also more insane.

Regardless of whether or not the toddler is a maniacal child prodigy, we cannot rule out that the father could have easily just shot the woman and blamed it on his innocent kid. Detectives examined the child’s hands for gunpowder residue, but no conclusions have been made yet.

Which sounds more likely: Two parents left a loaded gun (with the safety off) within reach of a curious toddler that knew how to use it? — OR — A pissed-off father shot his baby mama and pinned it on the child who was at just the right age to be able to fire a gun, but not speak to the cops?

Lol, really it would be so easy for the father to blame it on the child. Freak accident’s have occured but what GOOD parent would leave a gun unloaded in the proximity of a child?!
