Man shot for forcing manners on someone

GEORGIA — Jay Rodgers fancies himself a victim after he was shot in the stomach in a gas station parking lot while his wife and children watched — and police are still searching for the shooter.

Rodgers and his family were on their way home from a Tim McGraw concert last month when they stopped at a Shell gas station in Atlanta so one of the children could use the toilet.
Inside the gas station, Rodgers held the door for a man, but he didn’t say thanks. As the unthankful man walked by, Rodgers quietly asked him why he didn’t say thanks, but again, the man just ignored him and walked away. At that point, Rodgers should’ve let it go, but he didn’t.
He followed the man outside to his car and demanded a thank you. According to Rodgers, “He put whatever he purchased inside [his car], and he pulled out a gun and shot me from about 15 to 16 feet away from me.” Afterwards, Rodgers admitted on camera that he passed out in his wife’s arms.
The bullet tore through an intestine and exited out his back a few inches away from his spine. He was in the hospital for 9 days and will be out of work for at least 3 months. His message to his shooter was full of manners: “I’m mad, but if you’re watching this, do the right thing and turn yourself in,” he said.
The gas station’s security cameras didn’t capture the incident, and no arrests have been made.

I’M ON THE FENCE ABOUT THIS ONE:
Obviously it’s not cool to just whip out a gun and shoot somebody for trying to teach you some manners, but it’s also not cool to think you have the right to tell other adults how to act. If somebody doesn’t thank you for holding the door, label them an asshole in your mind and move on with your life.
Imagine for a moment that you were the unthankful stranger. There could be a million reasons why you didn’t feel like thanking some redneck in a camo hat for holding the door for you. You’re having a terrible day. Your boss fired you and he’s been banging your wife. Plus, you just had diarrhea.
The man you just brushed by without thanking muttered something to you on your way out the door. Now you’re in a worse mood. Still, you ignore him and walk to your car — but he pursues you. What’s this guy’s problem? Who DEMANDS thanks from a stranger for holding a door?
You could continue to ignore him, but then what? He would probably just stand in front of your car. This guy isn’t going away without a thank you. You’re starting to feel nervous and intimidated.
At this point you have four options: 1) Flee like a bitch 2) Thank him like a bitch 3) Punch him in the face 4) Shoot him — think carefully. Is this guy really trying to heal the world by forcing people to have good manners, or is he just a wannabe bully on an adrenaline high from a Tim McGraw concert?
Either way, he’s kind of a dick and deserves a lesson in respecting peoples’ right not be thankful.
Option 4 doesn’t sound too bad anymore, does it?

Perhaps where the stranger is from people say thanks with a shot to the gut. Some people are so ethnocentric!

That’s like when someone tells you, “SMILE!” It’s the last thing you wanna do. But a “fuck you, buddy” will usually suffice.

He got shot because he could smell the “tim macgraw” on him. It’s only right to shoot a person who has such lousy taste in entertainment.

Sounds like the guy was looking for a fight and the silent stranger decided to skip right to the end game.
