Backseat DIE-ver

GEORGIA — A woman was killed this week when a rock the size of a bowling ball suddenly smashed through the windshield of the car she was a passenger in, and struck her in the head.

The rock was launched directly into the path of Laralynn Lee’s car and punctured the windshield like a bullet. It grazed her elbow, but killer her mother, 58-year-old Annie Lee, who was in the backseat.

Unlike the other times that I’ve written about people nearly dying from heavy objects thrown at them while driving, this was a freak accident. The rock was actually launched by a large DOT mower.

The mower was cutting grass along the side of the road when it struck the 25-30 pound rock and sent it flying at the car behind it. The Lee’s were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This isn’t the first time a similar death has occurred because of DOT mowers and rocks.

A few years ago, a prisoner on work detail was also killed THE DAY BEFORE his scheduled release by a rock thrown from a DOT mower, but he was hit in the jugular vein. Damn flying Rocks!
