Productive Tuesday: Dancing gorilla

CANADA — The Calgary Zoo is home to a new YouTube star — Zola the break dancing gorilla.

Zola is a male western lowland gorilla, and his species is considered critically endangered. He enjoys playing in water, which is actually what he’s doing in the video — not dancing.

The zoo only posted the video on Friday, but it already has over 100,000 views. I know that’s not enough views to be considered e-famous yet, but wait until Asia hears about this gorilla. Zola is going to blow up like a hairy little Justin Bieber. Japan will make a TV show and video games about him.

Primates are fascinating creatures because they’re so similar to humans, and in some ways better. Take chimpanzees for example: they’re 5 times stronger than humans, and smart enough to engineer their own sex toys. Thankfully, we have the internet because newspapers would never run a “Break Dancing Gorilla” or “Chimpanzee Masturbates With Frog” article — unless it was my paper.
