CALIFORNIA — Police have arrested 29-year-old Ka Yang after a 3-month-long investigation revealed that she murdered her infant daughter by cooking her in a microwave. Yang originally told police that she suffered a seizure and accidentally dropped the baby on a space heater.

The arrest warrant stated that investigators were suspicious because the space heater wasn’t damaged, and the baby’s clothes and hair were also not burned in the “accident.” She did have serious burns on her face though. Oh, and the pacifier found in the microwave was a bit suspicious too.

Yang was not arrested for the death of her child until this week because it took investigators months of consulting with numerous medical and forensic specialists until they determined that Yang’s daughter’s burns were caused by a microwave. There are only three other documented cases of this in the US.

“The injuries aren’t seen that often,” Police Sgt. Norm Leong told reporters. 3 months still seems like way too long though. A pacifier was found in the microwave and the baby smelled like leftovers.

During the investigation, Yang took a polygraph test and failed it. She also told investigators that she might have a split personality. She had three other children, who are now in their grandparents’ custody and the only reason they’re still alive is because they were too big to fit in the microwave.

Yang’s motive is still unclear. She is currently in jail facing multiple charges for murder.
