TEXAS — On Saturday, employees at Perry’s Steakhouse in Austin were so overwhelmed by a rotten stench coming from the air vents that they alerted the police. Later, authorities broke into the ventilation system and discovered the corpse of 26-year-old Jamie Minor, who was trapped inside for a month.

Minor was last seen leaving her job as a hostess at the W Hotel on May 23rd — she was sent home by her boss for “erratic behavior.” Supervisors called a ride for her, but she left before it arrived and walked five blocks to her former place of employment, Perry’s Steakhouse. Nobody knows why she went there.

It’s important to mention that Minor had been struggling with bi-polar disorder since her early 20s.

Surveillance video from Perry’s Steakhouse recorded Minor trying to enter the restaurant through a locked side door, and again through a different door in an adjacent parking garage. Both doors were locked, so she went to the 5th level of the parking garage and climbed into the building’s duct system.

Minor shimmied through the ducts like James Bond, but somehow got stuck between the first and second floors. The last moments of her life were probably filled with panic and desperation.

The duct that she died in led to the restaurant’s office, so she almost made it to her destination.

On June 2nd, maintenance workers discovered some of Minor’s belongings near one of the ducts, but she had already been trapped for over a week. That same day, her mother reported her missing to the local police department and also began plastering “missing” posters all over Austin.

It wasn’t until her corpse started to smell that anyone at Perry’s thought to check the air ducts. After all, what reason would an ex-restaurant employee have for sneaking around in the vents?

My guess is that she wanted to steal Perry’s top-secret steak marinade recipe.
