IRELAND — 57-year-old Sean McDonnell is charged with buggery (bestiality) after a woman that he met online had sex with his German Shepherd dog and then died from an allergic reaction.

McDonnell is surprisingly the first person in the country to be tried under legislation that bans sex with animals, and if he is convicted, he could end up spending the rest of his life in prison.

The victim, a 43-year-old mother of four, met McDonnell online and consented to having sex with his dog. After the intercourse, she fell ill and was taken to the hospital where she died of anaphylaxis — a severe allergic reaction. Whether she was allergic to the dog’s penis or its sperm is unknown.

It is also unknown whether the victim was allergic to all dog penises, or just that particular breed. If she had sex with a Labrador Retriever, things may have ended much better.

Editor’s note: I apologize for not knowing the specifics regarding the allergic reaction. I believe that responsible journalists should search for the answers to these mysteries, even if it takes calling the local vet and asking if a woman had an allergic reaction to dog sex, would it be from the dog’s penis or sperm, and more importantly, can she have sex with any dog she likes, or are there recommended breeds?

If anyone can get their local vet to answer those questions, please comment. Mine just hung up on me.

While we can all agree that it’s wrong for humans to have sex with animals, many people think that it’s a different story to LET your animals have sex with humans. For example, if your German Shepherd enjoys having sex with women, you wouldn’t be hurting him by trying to find him a suitable match online.

If McDonnell were to be sentenced to life in prison, it wouldn’t be for the accidental death of the woman that his dog pleasured — it would be for simply letting his dog pleasure her. That’s not justice.
