CONNECTICUT — Police suspect that a young woman who climbed into a tree, took off her clothes, and then fell to her death on Saturday was high on PCP. Less than an hour before her death, a priest called 911 and reported the same woman alternately hugging and striking a statue in front of a church.

The woman was gone by the time the police responded to the priest’s call about her molesting the church’s statue, but other witnesses called 911 about 45 minutes later and reported the same woman lying unconscious underneath a tree. Her clothes were found 25 feet up in the tree.

It’s common for people on PCP to remove their clothing because the drug increases body temperature.

Police are unsure why the woman plunged to her death, but one theory is that she was electrocuted by some power lines that ran through the tree, and then fell to the ground.

Another equally plausible theory is that she was high as hell and simply tried to fly out of the tree.

The most common name for PCP is “angel dust,” which is ironic because it sounds more like demon dust to me. I try not to criticize drugs that I haven’t personally tried myself, but I’ve made an exception for PCP. I’ll never try it as long as I keep hearing stories like this, and this, and this, and this.
